Mobile Monday Madrid
On the 29th September, our CEO was invited to the Mobile Monday session Mobile Internet Platforms with Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! in Madrid. The start-ups were a surprise for (nearly) everybody, therefore we have not announced our presence at the event in advance.
The evening started with a great presentation of Enrique Dans, Professor of Information Systems and Techologies at IE Business School, you can find a summary and a discussion here. We really enjoyed his speech! Then, three major players shared with us their view about the industry: José Antonio Martínez Aguilar (Director of the Telecom and Media Division at Google), Alex Romero (Director for Strategic Partnerships for Portugal, Spain and France at Yahoo Europe) and Iván Lozano (Mobile Manager at Microsoft Spain) . The high level of the panel encouraged the start-ups!
Solaiemes, Ta with you, and Tooio (if you know Spanish, it sounds like “tuyo”) did a short business/product presentation to the panel and to more than 160 attendees. With limited time, our contribution seems to have encouraged the audience to know more about us, since the number of visits to our website and mobile internet portal mobitra.mobi have increased significantly during the day.

This event (the next one will be in Barcelona) is really helpful to build the ecosystem needed for little ambitious technological start-ups to grow (and grow, and grow, and grow). However, we are far away from the most innovative countries, thus we need to push the entrepreneurial culture some steps forward … New graduates shall be willing to start their own companies and make them grow to an international level, we have to be ambitious, proactive, and lead our companies to (international) success.
Success is not 10M€ revenue in local markets, success is becoming an important actor in the global landscape, being acquired by a bigger player, grow and become a billion € company, or anything else with a common feeling: build REALLY great things! (and enjoy doing htem) That’s what we are pursuing, such as some other start-ups nearby that you might be aware of.
