Post of the week
This week, this post will summarize the latest news …
Recently, we have appeared in media such as Radio Sabadell on May 28th, or Catalunya Radio on the 8th June, which helps us spread the benefits of our technology for translation and multinational companies. It’s always a pleasure for us!
Besides, our CEO has been nominated as finalist for the Creative Young Entrepreneur Catalunya 2009, tomorrow we’ll know the winner … In the speech Diego will make, he will emphasize how (creative) entrepreneurship can help our country to be best positioned in the world: focus and passion. Additionally, while writing this post, we have seen that we are nominated for the Europas best mobile startup (hosted by Techcrunch Europe, July 9th, London).
Regarding business development, our profile is listed in Innoget, growth through open innovation, which brings us interesting contacts, as well as Qapacity. We are currently expanding our partners, more news coming soon.
In terms of technology, the projects we have carried out reflect the importance of an optimum corpus selection. In this sense, Google has mostly a brute force approach, where it might seem that the higher amount of data, the better the translation quality. However, we obtain the best results if we optimize the corpus for a particular domain, i.e. we apply lingustic knowledge to generate the statistical model. Our unique approach differentiates us from our competitors in the US and Thailand.
We have pitched to investors in Lleida (13th May 2009), and we appeared in the catalogue of the XV Investment Forum (17th June 2009).
Finally, interesting links we have discovered this week are the translation of idioms; Linguee, the web as dicionary for German - English, which provides example translations in these two languages, and Babel with me, to translate chat conversations using Google.
